Understanding the Config Tab

1 min read

The Config tab controls how the Content Tracker generates reports, calculates dashboard metrics, and manages dropdown lists. Most users only need to set this once. If something feels off with reporting, this is the first place to check.

Snapshot settings #

SnapshotFolderId
The Google Drive folder where all snapshot reports will be saved.
Paste only the folder ID from the URL.

SnapshotTemplateDocId
Optional. A Google Doc used as the template for every snapshot.
If blank, snapshots use a default layout.

BrandingTitle
Optional. Used as the main title at the top of each snapshot report.
If blank, the report title defaults to “Content Snapshot.”

Reporting period #

PeriodStart / PeriodEnd
Set the start and end dates you want the dashboard and snapshots to use.
Use the format YYYY-MM-DD.
If these fields are empty, the dashboard tiles and snapshot will return zero results.

PeriodDateKey
The date column used to decide whether an item falls within the reporting period.
Default: LastUpdated.
Change this only if you prefer to measure by a different date column such as VersionDate.

SyncLastUpdatedToPeriodKey
Optional. When set to TRUE, changes to the PeriodDateKey column automatically update LastUpdated for that row.

Optional snapshot filters #

These fields limit snapshot reports to specific platforms or statuses.

IncludePlatforms
Comma-separated list. Only items with matching platforms appear in snapshots.

IncludeStatuses
Comma-separated list. Only items with matching statuses appear in snapshots.

SnapshotRespectFilters
When set to TRUE, the snapshot applies these filters.
When FALSE or blank, snapshots ignore them.

Leave all three blank/false for full, unfiltered reports.

Dropdown list sources #

The Config tab stores the values used for dropdown lists:

  • Platform
  • Type
  • Status
  • ChangeType
  • Product

You can edit these values directly on the Config tab or use:
Content Tools → Edit Dropdown Lists

After making changes, use Content Tools → Refresh Options so the dropdowns update everywhere.

Admin access #

These optional fields control who can see the Admin submenu.

AdminEmails
Comma-separated list of Google accounts that should have access to Admin tools.

AdminMode

  • TRUE: any editor is treated as an admin (Admin menu is visible to everyone).
  • FALSE: only users listed in AdminEmails see Admin tools.

If both fields are blank, the Admin menu is hidden for everyone until you add at least one admin.

When to adjust Config settings #

Update the Config tab when you:

  • Change your reporting period
  • Switch snapshot folders or templates
  • Add or edit dropdown categories (including Product)
  • Introduce new platforms or content types
  • Need filtered snapshots for different teams

Most teams set this once and revisit it only when workflows change.
